Is a 2.4ghz intel prescott a lot better than a Sempron 3300+ ??

I would doubt that it's better in any respect at all to be honest.

Having a look around the 3300 is almost as good as a 2.8GHz P4 so probably on equal terms with 2.6GHz or their about.

It's a more efficient design, so it does more work per clock.

Edit:- Gaming wise it actually seems to be better than the 2.8GHz P4.

Try looking at the 3700+ if you can. Good chips and good overclockers.

That's assuming you want to stay single core....

X2 3800 if you want dual core.

Not bad for a budget CPU, does better in gaming....but the P4 is much quicker in FPU and encoding tests.

I'd think the Sempron 64 will be faster in all respects. A P4 Prescott 2.4Ghz would have no HyperThreading and would have a 533FSB.
