Questions about increasing SNR.

Hi all.

I have been on ADSL Max for a while now and have noticed in the evening my SNR seems to drop. In the morning/early afternoon my SNR is over 7, at night it drops to as low as 0db !!
I would really like to be able to sync at 8128kbps, but with interleaving off. My line is currently perfectly stable and it has not disconnected, but I think if I ask my ISP to turn interleaving off, it will make the line unstable.
For this reason I would like to increase my SNR.

Does anyone know why my SNR seems to drop at night, what could be the reasons for this?

My router is currently plugged into an extension which is upstairs, but I would like to move this to the mastersocket.
I have looked at the mastersocket and have noticed it is not one of the newer BT NTE5 mastersockets, it just looks like a normal single phone socket - do you think an NTE5 would make a difference?
Also, I have a house alarm which is hard-wired into the phone line, it basically rings my mobile number if the alarm is activated - could this be a problem, as I don't think it is filtered....?

Here are my line stats:
DSL Path Mode: INTERLEAVED
Downstream Rate: 8128 Kbps
Upstream Rate: 448 Kbps
Downstream Margin: 2 db
Upstream Margin: 22 db
Downstream Line Attenuation: 30
Upstream Line Attenuation: 14

Any tips to improve the SNR would be great, thanks.

an NTE socket with XTE-2005 faceplate would make a difference, dunno how you would get an NTE fitted tho :(

Yeah, I do have an XTE-2005, but obviously can't fit it because I don't have an NTE5!
I think BT can fit the NTE5, but they will charge over £100 to do so, unless there is a fault. :(

Yes. Street lamps outside and central heating for inside wiring.

Move your modem/router to the main socket to minimise internal and RJ11 wiring. Also your router could simply be reporting wrongly. 0 SNR suggests it can't hear any signal.

We don't have any street lamps outside and I will see what happeneds if the central heating is turned off.
I will try the mastersocket tomorrow and see if it makes a difference.
Can I remove the front faceplate on the mastersocket and try the test socket? Or can I only do that on an NTE5?
