questions about NEC MultiSync LCD24WMGX3

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-028-NE

Hi everyone, I just have a couple questions about this monitor.

1. Why is it so inexpensive from this site as compared to other sites?
2.a) Why does it say this monitor is pre-order? (because I thought this monitor was already released)
b) If I do pre-order it, when will it be available?
3. I can have it shipped to Canada, correct?

Thank you for your time :)
1. It's a short-term deal. It wasn't always priced this low - I bought it from here at the higher price.
2.a They've sold out and are awaiting new stock
2.b When new stock arrives - don't know when.
3. Not sure. According to terms and conditions, some items won't ship outside the UK. Try a webnote via the contacts page or the phone numbers on there.

Hope that helps.

Sorry for double post, but I have a couple more questions,

1. Is it possible to find out when the monitors will be back in stock? So if I preorder one now, when exactly it would become available to me.
2. Does anyone know why this monitor is not available in Canada or the US? Or when it will become available in Canada or the US?

Thanks again :)

Edit: Disregard second question. I asked NEC and they don't have a release date yet for the US. Still looking for an answer to the first question, though.
Thanks. :)

1. Send a webnote and find out.
I ordered one when they were listed as having just 1 in stock. Obviously someone else got there first as I'm in the warehouse queue.

A competitor lists that monitor as being back in stock Jan 15 2009, so I'm guessing that OCUK will get them at roughly the same time.

have you read the review of that monitor on TFT central? I was thinking about it myself but in the end went for the slightly cheaper HP model as this is more suited to gaming by all accounts, and is H-IPS vs MPVA. Suppose it depends on what youre going to be using it for though

Thanks. I sent a webnote asking about when they will get back in stock.

95thrifles: I read it now. Putting me onto this monitor original was Trusted Reviews, though.

I do plan on using this monitor for a variety of things so I wasn't specifically looking at gaming. I do think this is the best monitor for me.

Thanks everyone for your help. :D

For what it's worth I bought this monitor a couple of weeks back and I'm delighted with it. Having owned the original NEC 20WGX2 (which is an IPS screen) I was a little worried that this MPVA panel wouldn't be responsive enough - epsecially as I sent back a BenQ FP241W for that very reason a couple of weeks earlier! But I've been really pleased with all aspects of the screen. It's very responsive for MPVA, it looks fantastic, image quality is superb and it has an amazing array of connectivity options. The only downside is a stuck sub-pixel towards the bottom of the screen, but the pixels on a 24" monitor are so small you can't see it unless you stare for 10 seconds in particular area so I can put up with that.

So all in all a great buy and I hope you manage to get one over to Canada somehow!

Just to add to the above post i bought mine a few weeks ago and use it for gaming and web browsing and have no problems with it what so ever.
It's a great monitor especially at that price.

Oooo now down to £399. Very tempting although will these go down even more in the future? I HATE buying something only to be reduced a few weeks later!

They were brought down to £399 a couple weeks ago but a few days later put up to £409, it is a limited time special offer. They are normally circa £620 incl VAT. So i very much doubt they will be reduced any further

Not a chance with the AA. As a minimum if you like AA then I would suggest a 260GTX 216 or a 4870 1GB.

Face-palm.

Why? I really don't get how people suddenly forget how a card performs once the new ones come out.

GTX260 216 and 4870 1GB ARE NOT the minimum for 1920x1200, FAR from it, and I'm talking from personal experience. I've been on 1920x1200 for quite a while, and I've been through a 2900XT a 3870X2, and 4850/ Crossfire (I keep it off unless I need it due to having more than 2 displays attached.), they've all be good for 1920x1200 at max settings, with AA, not so much in the very latest of games, such as crysis, stalker clear sky, and so on, but the point is is that they are not the minimum.

You will easily play games maxed out at 1920x1200 with AA on a 3870. I'm not saying it's gonna play everything maxed, but let's keep it truthful now.

Wait until you get your monitor and see how you feel your 3870 copes with the games that you play. If it's not satisfactory, get yourself a 4850 if you want more power for a lowish price.

I'm not saying don't get a 260 or 4870, but don't jump on them and spend money when you might not need to.

Misinformation is fail. :o
