Just to underline whats been said, I've had Steam since the very first day it came out, I have a 4 digit Steam ID and Ive bought dozens of game with it, and its been on every single day, with no problems of hacks or bans or anything at all.

And some of thier mid week special offers are absolute bargains

Basically, dont give your details away on muggy websites, dont cheat, and all will be just great

As a last point, Steam auto patches your games too, menaing you dont have to bother with all that either.

1. Depends how busy their servers are. When they're not, though, I generally get about 700-900KB/s.

2. You can gift games to other people if you want, but otherwise all games you purchase are permanently tied to your account.

3. You could do, but it's much quicker to just backup your Steam folder as you then won't need to waste several hours downloading all your games again.
