Questions about the 3 network.

I have just taken out an 18 month contract with Free Phones LTD. The network is 3 and the call plan is Video Text & Talk 700. Its £17.00 for the first 6 months and then £35 for the remainder. I took it out because its much better than my current calling plan with o2. Anyway this was all done over the phone so am I right in thinking that since I didn't sign for anything that I can cancel at any time? Also does anybody know how long it is before I can choose a lower tariff?

I've looked around and all the offers for Video T&T 700 seem to be around the same price.

Sorry I didnt see that, but over the phone they did say the phone was free.
