Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300 LGA775 'Yorkfield' 2.50GHz 6MB-cache (1333FSB)

Thermaltake ToughPower 750W Power Supply

Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-8500C5 1066MHz Dual Channel Kit x2

OcUK GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express)

Gigabyte GA-EX38-DS5

Im pricing this up for my uncle who's wanting up upgrade his aging gaming machine. He has 2 x 74gb Raptors and 2 new samsung HD's. He also has a 21 inch viewsonic TFT but the core of the machine is still running a P4 with 6600GT. So he asked me to spec him a decent upgrade and he refuses to go any lower than the new 45mm Intel CPU's. The spec is not the problem, its more of a question about compatibilty.

The GA-EX38-DS5 is a very good motherboard however ive noticed on the website that the 9300 series is only supported with the latest F8 revision of the bios. Oblivously I dont want to get him a motherboard that wont work with his CPU without a BIOS update. So can someone tell me if the motherboard GA-EX38-DQ6 ships with the F8 bios and if not, what motherboard should replace it that will run it out of the box from the range of ocuk motherboards...minimum x38

I can't answer your question about the BIOS sorry, but with an 8800GT on this week only for only £110 Inc Vat, I'd reccommend you go for that over the GTS.
