Questions - CPU, PSU and a simple overclocking query

Hopefully this is in the right section....the Overclocking section didn't seem right.

I'm looking at putting together the following system:

Asus A8N Premium motherboard (already using it)
Athlon64 x2 4800
2GB RAM (already using it)
XFX GF 7950
2 hard drives (already using them)
2 optical drives (already using them)
CoolerMaster Centurion 5
Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro

At anyone's best guess, the questions I have are: Is my existing 500W PSU going to be good enough? I'm using a GF 7800GT at the moment but selling it on for a nice price.

Secondly, if it is good enough, will it remain that way if I overclock the processor from 2.4Ghz per core to 2.8Ghz per core? Further to that, is the Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro going to be anywhere near good enough to keep my system at a reasonable temperature? Any help is appreciated and apologies for the rather basic queries...

If anything similar has been covered anywhere else then sorry, I did search but couldn't find anything.
 
What make is the 500w, Q-Tec?

The Freezer is a top class cooler and should do you fine on that cpu even overclocked. Just make sure case flow is good.

If it's Q-Tec I'll shoot myself now. I've just been reading another thread about the amazing quality of the Q-Tec... :rolleyes:

I have a Hiper and it's ok, but I'm not sure about that graphics card you're getting and that oc'd cpu in combination with the optical drives etc.... as has been said, Seasonic are the best of the bunch.

How about the Seasonic S12-600? Or could I get something cheaper that would definitely do the job? I know my existing PSU definitely isn't Q-Tec but I need to check what it actually is a little bit later.
 
It really isn't sensible to skimp on a PSU, so I'd say go for any Seasonic over 500w as this should do the trick. It's mainly to do with stabiltiy at a certain output of current, not to do with watts.

I've installed all of the items from the first post today (except the A8N32-SLI Deluxe instead of the A8N Premium and also one Akasa Amber 120mm case fan) but am having temperature issues.

The case fan is running at 2300rpm (which is supposedly its usual speed) but my motherboard is sitting at 46C and my CPU at 41C which I think is way too high considering I'm not overclocking. Q-Fan and Cool 'n Quiet are both disabled and at the moment the case is even open (similar temperatures when it isn't). Am I missing something obvious?

The sensors defintely may be - motherboard is constantly 45C now and the CPU had dropped from 43 to 36 for no reason at all.

Sorry to be thick but....say what now :confused:

Just using the Arctic Freezer 64 Pro, an Akasa Amber case fan and the front case fan from the CoolerMaster case which I couldn't easily remove.

There's fairly cool air coming from the back of the case (where the case fan is) and the heatsink itself isn't particularly warm either.

Hmm sounds like the airflow is decent (you want the cool air coming in and warm air going out). The cpu temp of 36 is pretty good, what speed is the fan on the freezer 64 running at?

Fluctuates between 2350rpm and 2410rpm which from what I can gather is normal. Might I be worrying too much?
