Hello there everyone.

I've had my rig for about a year now and Since I recently purchased a Thermalright ultra 120 I thought I'd finally give overclocking a try.

Specs

Intel core 2 Quad Q6600 at 3GHz
Asus P5K-E/Wifi AP
8800GTX
A-DATA DDR2 PC6400 800mhz
Coolermaster Stacker 831
Thermalright Ultra 120
Corsair 520W PSU

OS

Vista Ultimate 64bit

Vcore and VID

I managed to get the Q6600 to 3.0GHz 333X9 at Vcore 1.3
Just to test I lowered Vcore and tried various stress tests like prime95 at the same speeds. It Still runs stable.

I was under the assumption that VID and Vcore had to be either the same or Vcore could be greater. I did not realise that Vcore could be less than VID. Could someone comment on this.

Temps

I've posted 2 Images First Image is running Prime95 at Large FTTs about 30mins into a test.

Second Image is using a type of linpack for showing how your PC handles High Temps as well as basic stability.

Am I right in thinking these temps are good. Am I also right in thinking that there is no way any games or apps could run all 4 cores at 100% and so I don't have to worry about temps ever reaching Prime95 temps nevermind Linpack temps.

Going Further

I've decided at the moment to keep the OC at 3GHz since going further requires the Ram to either run slower or faster than it's clock speed.
I have not been able to locate any Ram Ratio to change on my Mobo.
The A-Data Ram I have is running at 800mhz and the Ram's specs state that it runs at 1.8v +-0.1 The voltage is currently set to Auto in the MB. The ram has small Heatsinks on the chips and I was wondering if it was possible to push it further. How much further? My next goal would be a 3.2Ghz Overclock which would require the ram to run at about 866 (Can't do the calculations at the moment) Can the Ram manage this and how would I go about doing this? should I just run the ram at a lower speed?

Other things

anyone know a good way to tell if there is much of an advantage of a quad core at 3/3.2 over 2.4 for real world applications?

Anyone got any other comments or things I should be concerned about after reading all this and checking the images?

Thanks for your time.

Ok Still at 3ghz anything else is unstable I think it's the ram since running it at 720mhz is a stable 3.2 but running it at >800mhz is not stable. If anyone knows how to set the ram to 800mhz while keeping the 3.2 ghz could someone tell me?

I've set the ram voltage to stock so that's ok.
Can't seem to find the dram:fsb ration on my mobo so that's what is causing my problems, nothing in the user manual either
