Just trying to set up port forwarding for DC++. I'm following this guide:
http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Linksys/WRT54GL/DC++.htm
http://portforward.com/networking/static-vista.htm
The guide says to "Remove the checkmark from the Block Anonymous Internet Requests checkbox.". However, I'm using tomato and I note that the tomato FAQ says: "Where are those firewall options that are commonly found in Linksys-based firmware?
...
* Block Anonymous Internet Requests, Filter Multicast, Filter Internet NAT Redirection -- Reversed and renamed to "Respond to Inbound Ping", "Allow Multicast" and "NAT Loopback" since these are closer to what they actually do."
1. This use of the word "reversed" isn't very clear to me ... is the equivalent option 'Respond to Inbound Ping' or 'NAT Loopback'?
2. How should the options be set (currently Respond To ICMP Ping, Allow Multicast and SYN Cookies are unchecked ... NAT Loopback is set to 'forwarded only')?
3. As you can tell, I'm a noob at this, so I have another question: becuase I have set up a static IP (outside of my DHCP range) - can there ever be a problem where another Virgin Media customer is handed the same address and so can't get internet access?
Also, are there any more security implications e.g. can a DC++ user connected to me (my desktop) get access to wireless devices on my network?
