Hi,

I purchased an HP 32-inch 1080p monitor for my PS4 Pro with the hopes of capturing the experience of LCD arcade cabinets from the mid to late 2000s. My newly-purchased monitor (even after tweaking and testing various settings) doesn't really seem up to par when comparing it to the monitors in these 10-year-old arcade game cabinets.

Here are some examples:

These arcade cabinets use older 1280x720 or 768p resolutions, and are 32 inches.

The blacks on my monitor are too black (even on RGB Limited), even when set at near the correct gamma (2.2). The arcade cabinets I have played on are not only easier on the eyes (less bright) but the blacks are not too dark and can be seen well. They are also more versatile in different lighting conditions. In the dark they are very easy on the eyes and during the day they are not too dim and have great color in both circumstances. Why would a monitor just purchased in 2018 not seem to hit the visual "sweet spot" that these 10-year-old cabinets were able to achieve?

Also, how does one professionally calibrate a monitor hooked up to a PS4? It seems professional calibration devices like the Spyder need a PC connected to them.

Thanks!
