You have to flash the Sky ones and although I did mine I've forgotten how much of a challenge it was. There is an update dialogue of course but I'm not sure if sky firmware prevents update.
I'd be wary of the GT as a wireless device as I've had two now and they've both struggled with some devices and kicked them off the network. Ive now added a TP-Link router with DHCP off to act as the access point.
The GTs are good for the modem side though as they have a good Broadcom chipset which works well with ADSL2+.
I hear lots of people recommending the Billion router/modems as I think they also have a Broadcom chipset. I've no personal experience with them though so can't actually say whether they are any better than a DG834GT modem but feel reasonably sure they'll be better than the GT's wireless G performance.
Was considering one myself but held back because Sky are rolling out MER authentication and it remains unclear whether the Billion will work with MER.
I have a short line and get 20mbit totally 100% stable with the DG834GT. With a TP-Link (non Broadcom) I also get 20mbit but it is less stable for some reason and reports a lower SNR. It also had trouble connecting, whereas the Netgear does it in seconds.
