Quick advice needed on gaming laptop

Firstly, apologies as i know a lot of people ask the same thing..... The reason I am asking for advice is that I am only in the country for this week then out for a month, so need to place an order asap :)

I work and live in both the UK and South Africa, so travel a lot between countries and really want to get myself a lightweight gaming laptop to use on flights, hotels etc. But I also plan to have a decent monitor, keyboard and mouse in both my apartments so I can get the best experience when at home. Therefore the screen needs to be great, but 4k/3k is not essential. What I do need though is for it to be:

- Light; my current laptop is a 3yr old 15" one from ************ and it weighs a ton on its own let alone with the massive powerpack it came with.
- Durable due to the amount of travelling.
- Play the latest games well.
- Cost up to £1500 though obviously the cheaper the better.

I have looked at various threads and advice but have concerns about all of the outcomes. The Gigabyte 14" seemed great but I have seen various concerns over build quality and the amount of RMA's. The MSI is 15.6" and I'm a little concerned that size/weight could be more awkward.

So for any advice I am due to receive..... Thank you!!!!

Even though you have £1500 budget, i would recommend the Lenovo Y50-70 15.6' gaming laptop with 1080p IPS screen for £899.99, its light which you need and will play the latest games at native res at high settings at playable frame rates.

Check my other posts in this forum for more info.

It comes down to what you mean by "Play the latest games well."

The 860m/960m cards are decent but wont have great framerates at 1080p at decent settings. The Lenovo seems decent for the money but will likely have one of those two cards. A 970m would be a better bet in my opinion.

If you give us an idea of what games you will play it can guide us a bit better :)

The GS60 is very good and super portable you can find the p34W with an 970m from gigabyte which is cheaper.

GS60 seems to have great reviews while my only worry with the P34W is the build quality and is known to throttle by at-least 20% while being very noisy.

1080p on a 14' is abit small IMO, also i think just 3GB of Vram is limiting on the latest games especially on the one with a 4k panel, at that price range you would expect a bare minimum of 4GB.

It's a IPS panel but you're probally right it doesn't have the best screen, in regards to 4k I'd probably say vram wouldn't be a bottleneck on the 970M for high res gaming.

Yeah i had a look on the net and edited it out, too late though. ;)

You definately need more than 3GB Vram for 4k gaming even the desktop 3.5 GB GTX 970 struggles. :D
