Ok, so my mate has a Dell XPS 420 with an 8600GTS GPU. He's having a few issues at the moment as his system now won't boot at all. The system fan speeds are really high immediately at boot and all we get is a black screen, not even as far as BIOS. Tried removing components one by one and noticed that when graphics card was removed, fan speeds went back to normal. No beeps from motherboard or error messages either.
Attempted swapping graphics card with an old GeForce 6200 and it booted up fine, scoring a mega 1.0 on Windows Index! Also tried 8600GTS in my own i3 setup and it worked fine, although no drivers are installed so unable to test properly.
Any ideas what the problem might be and if anyone has any suggestions for remedying the issue, it would be most helpful.
