I made a huge error when buying the mobo for my C2D upgrade, instead of getting the Gigabyte GA_965P_S3 I managed to order a Gigabyte GA_945P_S3 by mistake.
*slaps forehead*
My question is, will my PC6400 memory work with the board, but at PC5300 speed?

Thanks, at least I'll be able to test out the chip while I order the right board.
Can't believe I made such a simple error, must have gotten a bit over excited when I was doing the order!
It was the Conroe haze...

Have a word with the shop. They may be able to do a swap for you, but dont quote me on that. Never had to deal with OCUK's customer service yet - I've ordered, i've used and it hasnt broken down yet :D

Alas, I didn't purchase it from OcUK, I don't mind so much though, I've got it all installed and running @ 2.35Ghz without breaking a sweat. I actually don't mind sitting tight for a while with it anyway, my 3DMark CPU scores are about double what I got with my stock Athlon 64 3800 (single core), which makes me happy :D although I do feel like I'm wasting the RAM a bit by running it at PC5300 speeds!

You're also wasting the CPU a bit since the FSB is limited to 800MHz I think on the 945 chipset, i.e. the CPU will be throttled back from what you think it is.

This board actually has a 1066 FSB, otherwise I'd certainly be replacing it straight away!
All things considered, it's not a bad mobo, just not the one I was after.
