ok guys just about to order one of either of these 2 coolers, just a quick opinion on which would be the better bet:
- Zalman CNPS9700-NT for £43.95 or
- Scythe Ninja-PLUS Rev B for £27.14?

i'm leaning toward the ninja because of the price factor and i can't see the zalmann performing that much better over the ninja for the extra £16?

*note i have a Yateloon fan to go on the ninja ;)

If money didn't matter too much... I'd get the Zalman CNPS9700, but that's just because I *love* Zalman coolers... they look so pretty :D

But you're probably right, the £16 isn't really worth it...

How come people are starting to go away from the AC Freezer 7 Pro?

on a little side note, i know it's probably been addressed before but has there been substantial benefit of having 2 fans on the ninja i.e. intake + exhaust?

Because if you want a quieter cooler, you're better of buying your own fan. :)
Oh right, I have an ACF7 ... when I get it should I stick my own fan on it? Is it really that noisy, like in comparison to a stock cooler?

No it's really quiet in comparison to a stock cooler. But buying a quiet fan like a Yate Loon or a Nexus and then 5V modding it will get you proper "inaudible" quiet. I can hear my AC Freezer Pro, but I can't hear 5V modded 120mm fans.

In my personal experience, an AC Freezer will get you just as good an overclock as a high end cooler like a Ninja. The only difference is noise levels.

At stock CPU speeds the ACF7 fan rarely goes over 1500rpm and is acceptably quiet. It's 'orrible at full speed (>2000rpm) though.

Ah right. Do you know what kind of temperatures it will need to go full speed at? Or what kinda temperatures your goes full speed at, anyway.

I'll be on a fan controller so the speed of it is up to me :) I'll keep it running high for the most part unless it's reallly loud, I'm not so much of a "need silence" person and for the sake of making my CPU last that little bit longer I don't mind. I had a stock P4 cooler a while ago and that was SO loud, I hated sitting at my computer it was so bad, so I got a Zalman which was bliss in comparison :D

I run my ACF7 pro 24x7 on full speed and its not that loud, its not quiet and if the rest of my system was silent then maybe it would be an issue, but I don't hear it over the noise of the rest of my system and all my fans and PSU are of the "quiet" variety.

ok guys, just received my Ninja this morning, installed and am a little concerned with the temps! TAT is registering 45-46 in normal windows tasks (web browsing, music etc), is this normal? i know the thermal grease needs bedding in (had to use the stock scythe stuff as i ran out of AS5). or could something be up with my sensor?

anyone? ok folks just reseated the ninja, and now after heavy web browsing and music play i'm getting temps of 50c in TAT  starting to get very worried as this is seemingly very high!

i am as sure as i can be! all of the plugs for the ninja are pushed firmly down, am seriously rageing now  , the only other thing i can think of is that the base of the ninja isn't flat?
