Hello all,

I need to know where in the registry or similar it details the version of Windows.

I know you can do winver but i am running a batch file that is querying 200 odd servers so it need to search a reg key.

Platforms will include Windows NT 4.0 / Windows 2000. In XP i can find Product name but it is not the same in NT. Any ideas?

Under my version of Windows 2000, Product Name is found here:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion

Not sure if this is the one you are after?

Yep, that is correct with Windows XP/2000 but not NT4.0. I am looking for a key in the same location for both O/S versions.
