quick backup / format question

Hi Guys

I'm planning on a long due format and fresh win 7 install on my laptop.
What exactly to I need to transfer onto my external HDD in order to have all my apps, music, backups etc etc from all 3 iDevices currently on the laptop HDD?

Just create a backup copies of all info on your devices. Or am I missing anything in your question?
