Going to do a reformat soon, not done it on my main PC for 12 months.

I have 2 HD in this machine,

1 x 74GB raptor with OS/ programs on
1 x 250GB Samsung Spinpoint, music, personnal data etc

I am pretty sure I know the answer but just want to clarify.

If I put everything I want saving onto my Samsung, unplug then do a reformat then when my OS is reinstalled on my Raptor plug back in my Samsung, everything will be in the samsung as i left it ready to drag and drop and install etc where i want it ?

thanks.

OH also, I use Microsoft Outlook 2002 and ALWAYS have to copy all the email settings, POP / SMTP / username etc on paper

Is there a way to do this with a program ? I do a backup of actuall emails, just the account details im curious about

thanks.

cheers i though so, and yes I know about the .PST files, mainly wanted to see if there was something to remember all account settings as not found that yet

Think what ill do is a few "print screens" into P.S.Pro and stick them on my 2nd HD then i can see what all the account details were.

Thanks though

You may be able to export the account settings through outlook.

Generally i'll export the account settings via the registry. For the sake of 2 mins of inputting email details its probably not worth faffing around for one account.

this is where they're stored

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem\Profiles\Outlook\

i'd guess you'll need to put the pst file in place or run into errors

doesn't save the passwords apparantly

-but you are right about the 2nd drive :)

just unplug it when installing windows, then plug it back in after, and if you've just got one cd drive, that extra hd will be E:

:)

i just looked on msfn, def the best resource for restoring your current settings after a new install in their application installs or unattended sections of the forums

i dont use outlook myself, gmail 4tw!
