Quick bit of advice (re-furb on wheels)

Hi all,

I'm going to be doing a re-furb on a set of 17" alloy wheels, and the paint has flaked and corroded a bit underneath.

Now, i know all about what primer to use etc, but is it ok for me to use one of those wheels with metal bristles on to strip the original paint off?

The paint on them is currently flaking and peeling off in chunks.

fine shot blasting not an option ? Powder coating would also last better than paint.

I'm doing it as a favour for a mate.

All i need to know is the best way to strip the old paint off, nitromors?

sand paper
then wet and dry

rover gunmetal is a great colour (look in car pics my ibiza wheels were done like that)
