Hey guys, been a long time since ive posted on here asking for help, which i suppose is a good sign. got home today after uni, having used my pc at lunchtime and everything was working fine then. Tried to boot up, and pc didnt boot, not even into bios. Instead theres a long beep and a load of random codes being displayed on my mobo (EVGA 680i).

ive noticed that the long beep corresponds with the code 26 being displayed. According to the manual, this is the clock (description - Gen Init onboard clock generator and sensor). Im not too sure what this could mean. I was thinking that maybe the motherboard battery has died as i havent had to change it once in the 3 years or so that i have had the PC.

What do you guys think. I dont want to go out and buy a new battery if this is unlikely to be the problem.

Thanks for your help;:)

so, let me explain agin, when i power up, it goes through a load of different codes until it makes a long beep, which always coincides with 2b(or 26) appearing, i think its 2b which according to the manual is initialize video. it then eventually goes to ff. i dont know if its just a coincidence that the the 2b and beep coincide:confused:

hey guys. bit of an update on the situation, still need some help though.

Basically, the beep still coinincides with the error code 2b, but this time the final code being displyed is 7f which is check POST error and display them and ask for user intervention'.
so heres what ive done to try and find out what it might be. i have the gfx card in each of the pci-e slots, the code remains the same, and infact, the code is the same whether the gfx card is in or not. i have tried each stick of ram seperately and the code remains the same each time i boot. i have tried another hdd and still no difference.

after getting 7f displayed, if i then press f1, it goes to ff, and if i press delete, the code changes to 01 which is 'reserved' in the manual.

thsi probably isnt looking great. i have no idea what is going on. thye pc has worked perfectly for the last 2 years without any problems and this happens out of the blue without me making any changes at all.any one have any suggestions.

thanks for your help

how long would the warranty on my 680i be. bit worried its 3 years, in which case, i might be all out of luck

so, can anyone tell me how long the warranty on my 680i would have been?

also, im running a e6600 and 8800gts, whats the cheapest mobo i could get away with running these in. I have been out of the loop for a couple of years now

thanks:D

i bought the card in december of 2006. i never got around to registering the card. will i still be eligible for the lifetime warranty?
