I've moved all my photos to a new drive, an exact copy of the original drive which is no longer stable. How do I get Lightroom to work from the new drive, maintaining all of my editing?

As the directory structure is identical I'm guessing that it is a catalogue setting, but I just want to be sure before making the switch.

From memory, in your library catalog select the old location and right click on it, and there's something like set location? It is dead easy I do remember that!

Thanks - I can't see that option though. I thought this would be simple, but there doesn't seem to be an obvious way to move a whole drive!

Ah yes, it's for folders where you can update the location. As I don't have many folders at the root level I may have just done it that way before rather than trying to change the drive location. If you have replaced the drive though, and given it the same drive letter\structure then you shouldn't have to do anything?

The catalogue simply points to the locations, if you have already replicated that then you should be good to go. You can always backup your catalogue first if you are worried?

In Library go down to folders and you should see the ones that are now missing with a question mark, right click and 'find missing folder'.

...ninja post, posted my reply as you replied ;)...

Thanks chaps.

That was the blindingly obvious solution. I still have my old drive in the PC, with Lightroom pointing to it. So I just changed the drive letter to something obscure, and then changed the new drive to the known letter.

Lightroom is back and hasn't batted an eyelid :)

Thanks again!
