From what I can see, your external tv arial plug goes into the BT Visiion box, and from there, you connect to your HDTV.

I have heard the BT boxes do not support HD channels yet ( BBC, ITV ) so would I be right in saying that by putting the Vision box into standby, ( not power off ) I can still use the built in Freeview HD tuner in the HDTV itself to watch BBC HD etc.

( The signal just travels through the vision box onwards to the built in freeview hd tuner )

I think he means, will the aerial signal pass through the Vision box into the TV (via HDMI) - the answer is no!

I have another BTV question :) will the box work with an ISP other than BT?

I don't believe it will, no. it's a BT box that, AFAIK only works on BT Vision.

Also, want another BT vision box for another room? You need another phone line installed!

The BT vision box has an aerial out you go to the TV so yes you will be able to use the TV's built in tuner. My TV doesn't have an HD tuner but it's regular tuner uses the passed through aerial no problem.

Re, can you use it with another ISP - as a digital set top box I believe so but not sure on the recording side and definitely the on demand won't work.
