Total = £1400

I am not planning to do any overclocking, but got the Deluxe board in case in the future and it has SAS.
I will be using this for gaming mainly FPS, but not hardcore.
I would like it to last a good few years 3 - 4 :>
Are my selections good in the areas of performance and reliability?

techy ;>

I'd add another £100 and get the gtx285 as i reckon it will last you a fair bit longer than the 260. obviously it rounds you off to a nice £1500 as well:)

£1400 and only a 22inch monitor!!

Get at least 24inch.

That PSU is WAY ott and the motherboard is very expensive! Would probably get a faster hard drive. The samsung F1 or WD green are good.

@ mglover070588 thanks for the reply.

I really don't need anything bigger than 22" as I have 32" 1080p LCD TV right next to my computer :>

I read a few peoples comments on the F1 few people said they had failed on them???

I thought WD Black or Blue would be faster then Green?

The TX's aren't modular though :< What would be a better modular PSU to get?

OK well I suppose the screen choice is up to you:p I really would say push for a 24inch though, just for 1920x1200 gaming. I game at that res with a 8800gts 512mb and everything runs maxed out apart from crysis.

The F1s are fast, quiet and well priced. People post when their hard drives break, you don't see a 'My hard drive is working very well' thread'. I have had many samsungs and my old WD was loud and clicky in comparison (this was a 40gb IDE one 4 years ago though!). AFAIK The WD green are the best of the sensibly priced WD and are very similar to the Samsung F1. No idea about WD blue though. The Raptor series are VERY expensive.

Not sure on the PSU. The Corsairs are the best in most peoples view, but they come at a price (the £ has ****ed all PC hardware over recently)

EDIT: The antec 300 is a very good case and comes with a 120mm silent fan and a 140mm silent fan, both speed adjustable so no need to buy extra fans. I have got 5 hard drives in mine with a non-modular SLI psu. It is a huge mess but it does all fit in.

EDIT2: May be swap the graphic card for the 4870? Pretty much the same iirc but cheaper than the geforce you chose. No idea how the fans are on those things though, my 8800 is silent but my old x1800xt sounded like a vacuum cleaner.

Oh man i agree with the above posters, I have the Samsung Spinpoint F1 500GB 7200RPM and the Corsair 650W power supply and i praise them both, Amazing things for the prices, they both keep cool and neither make much noise infact you cant hear them against my other fans

The corsair 650w provides more than enough power than you need and also the spinpoint F1 series are fast enough to not affect your gaming

Also why not connect your computer up to the TV if you can, saving your self some money and buy the 285 instead.
Also i would buy the Antec 300 over that case as it provides better cooling and cheaper.
Also year the F1 are considered cheaper and just as good for performance.
I would go for a modular PSU something around the 400-600W mark. I generally prefer the Zalman PSU as there stable/reliable and better for price generally compared to the Corsairs now.
Also is the floppy and card reader needed these days?
