Hey all.

So a few months ago my old motherboard offed itself and i'm using a backup. Unfortantly it has ZERO overclocking capabilitys and has a 3gig ram limit (let's not discuss that, I know it's the MB not OS etc. etc.) and having 4 gig ram that is irritating.

The socket is 775 btw.

Looking around there are 775 motherboards which support DDR3 Ram. One problem i have is that I have 4x1gig sticks of ram and suddenly everyone is making 2 DDR2 sockets.

Since I would like to upgrade to a SB sometime in the future (when i get a bit more money) I was thinking about gettting DD3 Ram now and a 775 motherboard. Ok, won't be much of a saver since RAM is so cheap. Anyway, wanted to check the follow:

Can RAM run at a lower frequency that support by the motherboard?

I am looking to get:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-297-GI
http://overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-222-OC (awsome price) or http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-047-GS&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1517 (G-skill have NEVER let me down).

The motherboard website:
http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3505#sp

States it will support up to 1333mhz RAM (OCed). Obviously the ram I wish to buy is 1600, so Will i be able to run the 1600RAM at 1333mhz? In the future I will buy a SB motherboard+CPU and ofc having 1600 ram will not be an issue, and I'd prefer not by the (more expensive?!?) 1333mhz ram if I can help it.

Thank you for your support.

Thought it would be able to do that. Thanks.

What else I wanted to ask was any idea on how good an overclocker this board is?
