Looking to build myself a new gaming system, been out of the loop for a year or so, can you give me opinions on the following, appreciated.

intel i7 4790k
ASUS Z97 pro gamer
Avexir Blitz 2133 MHz C9 8GB
Seasonic x series PSU 1050w (on special offer this week)

Hi.

Interesting. Are you able to give a bit more information?

What is your budget?
Is it just used for gaming?
Why do you have no GPU specced?

Also, what are you/are you not taking from you'd old build?

Thanks.

Hi there,

yea its for gaming, im not budging on an i7 4970k paired with a GTX 980, but i want the cheapest other compnonents i can get away with (PSU excepted, its on a good deal and will be fuutureproof).

i already have a Crucial m4 ssd, 23" monitor, Lian Li case.

So basically just want reassurance the ram and mobo are up to it, not that interested in major overclocks maybe 0.2-0.4 GHz or so.

Some more ideas here, few quid cheaper

Intel Core i7-4790K 4.00GHz (Devil's Canyon) Socket LGA1150 Processor - Retail
£281.99
(£234.99)

Seasonic X-Series 1050w '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply
£139.99
(£116.66)

Asus Z97-K Intel Z97 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard
£92.99
(£77.49)

TeamGroup Vulcan RED 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-19200C11 2400MHz Dual Channel Kit (TLRED38G2400HC11CDC01)
£65.99
(£54.99)

What GTX 980 do you have in mind?

Is your SSD a good size?

What lian li case is it? (To reccomend cookers, ect).

PSU wise id be looking at the EVGA G2 750w/850w PSU or the superflower leader equivalents. 850w is note than enough for 980 SLI (2 x 980s). The seasonic is a TAD overkill. The quality of the EVGA and Superflower units are stunning. (The G2 range has Supeeflower as the OEM).

Spec wise, the RAM looks good, as does the CPU (though I'd go for the cheaper OEM and add a cheaper aftermarket cooler like the adios or them is). For the motherboard I'd go for the Gigabyte Z97X SLI instead. Gigabyte boards are very solid and the BIOS (I find) is better than the Asus. UK RMA is also helpful. And it think Its cheaper. Win, win, win, right?

Thank you for your response, some interesting thoughts there. The GPU will be following in a month or two time, for the time being i can make do with integrated graphics, compared to the ancient laptop im battling with here they'll suffice for now hehe. i'm going to lool at your recommendations now.

Right, here goes, third revision!!!!!

Intel i7 4970k
Gigabyte Z97x-SLi
TeamGroup Vulcan Red 2400MHz 8GB
EVGA G2 750W modular PSU

team these up with my Crucial m4 SSD, monitor and GTX 980 it shold be pretty decent right?

just a thought, i have a thermaltake Silver Arrow monster of a cooler, will these fit on a 1150 socket?

If your cooler has the 1156 bracket it will fit, as the mounting holes for 1156, 1155 and 1150 are the same.

If the cooler doesn't maybe you are able to purchase one or contact thermal right to get the bracket. Some companies do that.

That spec looks really nice.
