am i right in saying that the 64bit vista OS is incompatable with all 16bit software? and if so is ther any workaround for it?

I think there is a compatability mode in vista, have you tried that?

havnt got vista, wanted to check this b4 getting it, as for compatability modes in windows, as far as xp goes every times iv 'attepted' to use it on stuff, has no effect

What 16bit software do you want to run? All I can think of is games really now and even then you'd be better keeping an old PC for when you get the urge to play Doom or whatever.

i just read somewher that on 64 bit vista, almost all software/games made in the past few years refuse to even install let alone work on a 64 bit OS

Maybe in the early days but I'd imagine that most of the problems will have been sorted out by now, not to mention that most software from the past few years will have been 32bit unless compiled on really old kit for some obscure reason. I do have to admit I haven't checked it out in any way so I'm just making what I'd think to be a reasonable assumption but if you are unsure then the Windows sub-forum is a better place for the query.
