Forgive my relative ignorance on this topic its been a looooooooong time since I was a regular CS player - marriage and children putting an end to that particular sport :)

However a few lads in the office thought we'd have a blast and relive our youth a little. The question is can you legally download CS 1.6 for free and play on an internal LAN or do we have have to pay a few quid and go through Steam??? I was under the impression it could be done for free these days.

Cheers

Egon

Yeah I found that, but assumed I still needed Steam (and therefore needed to purchase) to play.

I'll DL and give it a try anyway.

Yep, I can confirm it is indeed CS+Steam that the link points to.

It certainly looks like the only option is DL steam, install, then pay a few quid for a key, its certainly the quickest and easiest option anyway.

ooh thread resurrection... well we binned the counterstrike idea as I was the only one with a key and the others were too skin tight to buy one !!

Anyway we decided to play Delta Force 2 instead since between us we had enough discs, i'd never played before and its no CS but it was still plenty of fun even more so with some custom maps and the fact that we all work in the same office :)
