when writing your CV is it best to put in a list of references or should i put references available on request

References on request. Always ask your referees for permission first.

In most cases the employer will want to contact the reference privately to get a secure reference. Soem referees prefer to give references by phone only to be more personal.

No I wouldnt say so, obviously there is a limit to what you can repeat, but that looks fine to me.
