Quick disconnects - too restrictive?

Hi,

(Another) Quick question...

Is it ok to use Quick disconnect fitting in water-cooling loops or are they too restrictive? How many can you use before they make the loop too restrictive?

What about right angle connectors? The ones I have seem to be quite narrow.

If it makes any difference the rest of the kit I'm using is:
Swiftech MCP35X pump
HeatKiller 3.0 CU CPU block
EK 5870 Copper + Plexi GPU block
240mm EK Coolstream Rad
XSPC RS240 Rad

Thanks.

wouldn't of thought quick disconnects would be very restrictive at all, but that's just guess work.

as for 90deg connectors, they rape flow

QDC's do have an impact on your flow, but if you have a decent pump, its not a big issue, or to look at it another way its much more convenient to have the QDC's than not if u ever need to make any real changes to your rig

Have a combination of Bitspower compressions and 3 Koolance QDCs in my single loop and my flow rate seems fine. Havent done any Skinee type scientific tests or what not, its just a matter of looking at the turbulence in my res to see that the QDCs barely affect my flow rates at all.

don;t know about qdc but I have 4 90's in my loop and I have not really noticed any issues whatsoever so don't worry.

Im using 2 VL3N QDC's in my loop and saw no temperature difference. I consider my loop to be extremely restrictive before I even used the QDC's having 2 gpu blocks, 2 mosfet, 1 NB/SB, ram block and 1 cpu block.

Well i reworked my loop to remove the 90 degree fittings, just in case. It doesn't look as tidy now, but I prefer the peace of mind.
I couldn't find any Koolance VL3Ns in stock when I bought mine, so they're cheaper ones (Phobya I think). I took out the 90 degree one and left the other on in. Not massively useful by itself, but hoping it will aid in draining the loop when I come to do that.

Think I might try to get hold of some Koolance ones for next time I redo my loop (if there is a next time, depending on the results I might go back to air next time).

They are expensive though ain't they?

How long should you leak test for? I'm getting impatient :)

Anyone interested in some pics when I'm done? (gonna wait until it's up and running though)

Expensive but they pay for themselves in terms of the convenience they offer.

I would have left the 90 degree fittings in as I don't believe they restrict flow much if at all.

I don't bother leak testing anymore. If it hasnt leaked in the first couple hours you'll prob be fine.

Pics are always good. :)
