Hey guys
Please let me know if there are any flaws in my below logic before I commit to new RAM
Currently: Corsair Dominator 2GB DDR2 XMS2 DHX PC2-6400C4DHX TwinX (2x1GB)
I want to maximize the other two slots so thinking this is the best value.
Crucial Ballistix Tracer RED 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 PC2-6400C4 800MHz Dual Channel Kit (BL2KIT25664AR804)
I would have gone for what seems the current version of my RAM to avoid conflicts, but there is only a 2GB version - Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2 DHX PC2-6400C4DHX TwinX (2x1GB)
The other choice was - Corsair 4GB DDR2 XMS2 PC2-6400C5 TwinX (2x2GB) - I figure the Crucial is slightly better value.
I also looked at - Corsair 4GB DDR2 XMS2 Dominator PC2-8500C5 TwinX (2x2GB) Supplied with Airflow Fan (TWIN2X4096-8500C5DF) - but I think mixing the 8500 with 6400 would be a bad idea??. And not enough performance boost to justify the extra cash.
I was also thinking of dropping the current RAM and going to 2 times 4GB kits which might make the - 4GB DDR2 XMS2 Dominator PC2-8500C5 TwinX - a better option. Although I am not keen to spend the extra cash.
- Seen any problem with the choice/combination?
- Any arguments for another choice?
Cheers for any feedback
- 64bit operating system so will handle 6GB of ram
- Gaming and heavy Adobe bashing
.
