Quick DS XL question

Im buying a DS XL that is an ex-display model. It's been on display for quite a with the power switched off. Due to the fact its been left with its battery virtualy on dead, could life of the battery have been compromised?

Batterys are fickly creatures how much is a new battery on flerabay? depending on the value, id just take the hit.

How come buying a display is it SUPER cheap? i bought a Mario 25th Anniv boxed as new with mario and a 32gb SD card for £140 or so about 6 months ago...im sure you could get a decent one without spend too much.

It's not about the cost, i want a new DS XL with firmware 1.4.1 or below.

If I buy a new one boxed is there a chance it will come with a more recent firmware?

Was it second hand the XL you bought? I'm thinking of doing that but concerned about screen quality and wear and tear. I suppose I could just ask the shop to show me the DS before I buy it.
