I paid for an xbox live subscription and the seller refunded it as apparantly my address wasn't confirmed (news to me). Anyway, after that Paypal have now held the funds for some reason, as as far as I can see, i'm now 28.95 down.

Anyone know how this works now? Will i get the money back? I've emailed paypal but i'm guessing I probably won't get a reply anytime soon.

If the payment (or part of it) you sent was funded from a bank account, debit or credit card, PayPal have to wait for that transaction to fully clear before they can refund it. Had it happen myself when I got a refund.

(Even though the payment is made instantly when funded from a card, it still takes a few days to fully clear in the banking systems)

Edit - ah ha - it was funded from account ... give it up to 10 days and the temporary hold will be lifted and you'll have your cash back.

I didn't really understand it though, is it saying in 9/10 days i'll be getting the money back?

What's there to be confused about? PayPal cannot give that money back to you until they get it themselves...!

When they took the money from the bank for that transaction, it will in effect take umpteen days to clear with them. (Banks are so slow for all transactions so while the cash is in limbo the banks don't have to pay interest on it!). As soon as the payment has cleared at PayPal's end they then send it back - the refund!

That's why the refund is on a TEMPORARY hold until it original withdrawl clears with them!
