quick excel question

Hi all,

I need a quick bit of help.

I have 3 columns, 2 are numerical and the 3rd is a list of names. These columns change every day and I need to total them up.

I know how to add the numerical columns up with "=sum(d3:d15)" but how would I go about counting how many entries are in the names column?
