Quick Excel question.

Hi all,

Any idea what formula I would need for this?

Column a has a load of names. Often the names are repeated. Next to the names in column B is the amount of money they spend a day. What formula would I put to addthe total amount that individual spends. I know it must be a Sum and Vlookup but can't get it to work.

=SUMIF(A:A,F2,B:B)

where F2 is the cell of the persons name, or replace with the name you are looking for ie "Bob"

A:A is the column to search
B:B is where you want to pull the figure from to SUM

A pivot table would also do the job.
