quick fix, cpu upgrade?

Hi guys,

My pc is being a bit pants these days, and now that i am a single man again, i might catch up on some of the games that are about. Anyway, I am running an old 939 system with a sungle core 3000 x64 cpu.

I have been looking at the prices of 939 x2 x64 amds and they are not that expensive these days. What sort of increase in performance would i see if i checkily just upgrade the cpu and leave the rest of my machine alone?

AMD x64 3000
2GB
6800 Ultra

windows will feel snappier & encoding will be quicker.

Games? maybe a bit faster, depends on clockspeed but probably wont make a big difference there
