How do you offer contracts to player with his current one expiring? Cannot find out how to do it and don't have the manuel with me at uni.

Rightclick -> Offer New Contract.

On the team screen you can sort by contract expiry date which makes it easier to go through and offer new deals to a bunch of players who's deals run out soon.

For those players you can offer contracts without going through the transfer bidding process they should have a 'Approach to Sign' button in the usual place. Im pretty sure thats the case anyway

I know what you mean, I've found that players at English clubs don't have 'approach to sign' for some reason. It's always confused me.

Might have to go looking abroad. Wish me luck Weston-Super-Mare don't attract the biggest of players. :p

Unfortunately you can only offer contracts to English players when they have 1 month or less remaining.

Good luck finding some talent :)

Ah that explains it. I noticed some players didn't have the Approach to Sign button which seemed a bit strange, like Owen.

i'm sure its 6 months as normal, but you end up having to pay compo if under 24.

i dont think you can approach any players outside europe tho on contract expiration for a freeby, you still have to buy them (unless the club releases them)

It's 6 months or less for Europe (generally), not got to the stage of one month or less yet to test the English ones.
