Done a bit o googling and found my gtx470 uses 341watts full load
my old HD4890's used 285 each and ran fine

soooo, putting 2x 6870's in xfire on my TX750 should be fine right?
apparently they use 247watts full load.


and secondly, will i notice much loss with xfire on my maximus II? (being both x8 in xfire)

its being run with a Q9650 @ 4.6ghz

I would say some of the power consumptions you've stated are wrong but that's not relevant to your question.

Your PSU will run 2 HD 6870's fine.

Running at x8 is something like a 2% reduction in performance from running at x16.
