Quick GTX 260 SLi question

From what ive read and been told as ive had the same questions before yes it can be as long as you clock the memory etc... to the same speeds otherwise the faster card will drop in performance to the lower performing card specs. All it is, is a different Chip, still communicate with each other.

I know crossfire would for instance a HD4870 would crossfire with a HD3870 but I m not sure about Nviida I heard that they need the same cards or the same *spec cards* I should have said

Yes I'm doing it...

Just watch out that the clocks are actually set right (you want them to be the same) newer nvidia drivers seem to run the cards are their own stock clocks which can cause some jumpiness in games if theres a big difference in clock speeds.

It wouldn't, 4 series cards can only be paired with other 4 series, i.e 4870 can be paired with 4850/30 etc..., same goes for 3 series, only other 3 series cards they can be paired with. :)

As said above yes, the chip size doesn't matter, as long as they are both called GTX 260's, it'll be fine.

Also put the faster card (if you have differing speed ones) in the Primary slot, so that the slower card wil automatically clock up to it, as it goes by Primary slot first, so other way around would make the faster card downclock.
