Hi all,

I have a H50 currently cooling a Q6600, bought back when they first came out. Today I ordered a 1155 mobo, 2500k, ddr3 ram and hope to just replace the old items. I was trying to do the upgrade on the cheap to cut costs.

I dug the old H50 box out of the loft to find any extra bits I need and it says it only has support for 1336, 1156 motherboards, not 1155.

I can run the stock cooler for the time being but will I need to invest in a new cooler or will the old one fit?

Cheers,
Matt.

IIRC 1155 and 1156 have the same hole placings on the motherboard. 1155 may not have been out when the H50 was launched.

OCUK people are great :D

If I look at coretemp right now the Q6600 (at 3ghz) idle low temps are 19 to 23c (****** cold tonight in Denmark), im hoping I can push the 2500k to 4.5 or a bit more. safe with this cooler?

I think I have a tube of mx5 knockin about someplace.

Cheer,
Matt.
