Ordered some GP4000s ii tyres but they've just told me it could be 2-4 weeks before they have them in stock and then another week or two to get here.

I can't afford to wait that long so I need another rrecommendation asap please.

Up to £60 a pair and must be better then the other tyres, better than the Giant standard tyres, looking for downhill speed, cornering speed, nice amount of grip.

Cheers

James.

Pro4 Endurance, Service Course or Service Course Grip (the latter only available in 23mm though). Usually quite cheap from CRC.

Alternatively 4Seasons tyres are very good. A little more expensive than the Pro4s but probably cheaper than the GP4000s IIs.

I tend to run 4Seasons on the commuters, Vittoria or Veloflex Open Corsas on the Cervelo in the summer, and these in the winter. Puncture protection is good, the weight is good, the grip is excellent, as is the rolling resistance.

The only down side is that (as with all grippy tyres, including GP4000s) they are quite soft and so if you lock up you will loose quite a bit of tyre to the road.

Interesting, thanks. I'm quite careful about locking my wheels these days as I've had the exact kind of problems you're talking about. I wonder if they're worth the extra almost 50% over my usual Pro4s. Sounds like they're worth trying at least once though.

I've got Pro4s on the CX at the moment. They seem OK. They are good commuting tyres.

If you want something for the weekend then Vittoria Open Corsa CXs are amazing: http://www.evanscycles.com/products...Iwxubazq53Pr6mXgP78pqxoC7U_w_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds
