hi folks

I've recently upgraded to dual core. I have the clients in different directories etc. When running clients task manager says 50/50 each process, What I was wondering is if I right click on each one and look at the affinity for both of them affinity cores 1+2 are checked. Is this right? or should one process have affinity of 1 core and the other have affinity of core 2?

what is more efficient?

many thanks

If I recall correctly (from my SETI days), changing the processor affinity does have a slight improvement in the efficiency of the crunching, but not a major difference.

A much bigger difference can be made though by switching to the SMP client, either the Windows version (which can be a bit awkward sometimes), or run the Linux client under a copy of VMware (which you can download for free). Ive found that the SMP client gives at least 2-3 times the credit of basic clients.

Let me know if you need any guidance in moving to an SMP cleint if that's the route you decide to take.
