I just got my fibre BT upgraded to 150 meg.

all my phones and general devices register speeds up to 150Meg which is great but my pc isn’t getting over 60 meg.

it’s a wireless connection via a decent ASUS USB N53 adapter. Never let me down

can’t fathom why everything bar my PC picks up the decent speed.

has anyone any ideas where to go from here please?

thank you

You won't need to wait if other devices are having no issues. What's the physical link speed that the device is negotiating?

60Mbps from an old wireless-n adapter isn't terrible to be honest.

sorry how do I check the physical link speed for the adapter? It’s rated up to 300mbs

would a new one benefit? Could you recommend one please

Got one of those laying around
For 8 years old or something it's decent
You using 2.4ghz or 5ghz
Pretty sure it was one of my first 5ghz capable ones
My connection isn't fast enough to max it out so can't say yeah getting over 60Mbs
With it
And how far from router is it

That's better
Like I said for its age its a decent adapter
If you only used the tiny little bendy cable
That came with it
Using a longer cable to position it will likely gain more speed

yeh it was after a bit of googling that I saw 5ghz worked best - looks like it’s right lol

I you want the full 150 Mbps over WiFi then a Netgear A7000 AC 1900 USB adapter should get you there, assuming your router is also capable of AC 1900.

I get this over WiFi about 6 meters away from router with the A7000.

This shows the bottleneck is the WiFi adapter as I have a 1 Gbps connection.

that’s very helpful thank you - so you have a 1gig connection but achieve 300meg via a wireless connection? I assume if you connected via Ethernet you would get the full 1k?
