quick html/php viewer?

Hi all,

Instead of uploading files (html/.php) to server and looking at domain, is there an app I can use to view files instead? I know .html types can be viewed sometimes with right click 'open with, browser' etc. But I can't seem to do this with .php.

Setup a local wamp server (windows) mamp (osx) and let it do it's magic.

Yeah I suggest using WAMP you just start it and drop you files in the www folder there is a Linux version called LAMP or a cross platform.called XAMP itworks by running.Apache on your computer locally son it will run the PHP code also you can have a MySQL database

I'd setup a virtual machine with a copy of the OS you intend to host the thing on, but the other suggestions will work just fine.

Ahh sorry guys, when I said server I actually meant my hosting ftp - does the above still apply?

I assume you mean you want to edit the files remotely instead of editing locally and uploading? Grab Notepad++ and use the ftp feature.

The above still applies if you want to edit your files and see the changes without actually putting it on your server to see the changes. Then once your happy with the file you can upload it. Just Google WAMP then all your files go.in WWW folder even in a folder then type local host into your browser to see it

ah like a WYSIWYG editor? Why not just edit the files then upload them back up? I know cpanel has one built into it but that is with linux hosting.
