quick html q: email address in source code = spam?

i'm currently redoing my website - and thinking of putting a link to start a conversation with me on msn:

msnim:chat?contact=[email protected]

this means my email address will appear in the source code - i'm wondering whether this can somehow lead to spam? bots crawling grabbing email address? is it possible?

yeah, i've seen that a lot too - which is what made me ask; whether it was just for precaution or if these 'bots' really exist..

i think i'll look into a javascript alternative as i really want the link to be clickable just once - without ppl having to edit the link to achieve its task
