Below is the spec for a HTPC. I have an Intel NUC but for various reasons it won't play nice with my receiver. I have a Silverstone HTPC case to use and I have an external graphics card to go in (again due to issues with my receiver)

Intel Core i3-2120 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - Retail £74.99

ASRock H87M PRO4 Intel H87 (Socket 1150) DDR3 Micro ATX Motherboard £59.99

Kingston 60GB SSDNow V300 Drive SATA 6Gb/s 3 2.5" (7mm height) Solid State Hard Drive - (SV300S3B7A/60G) **Upgrade Bundle Kit /w Adapter** £49.99

TeamGroup Vulcan GOLD 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (TLYD38G1600HC9DC01) £49.99

**B Grade** BeQuiet Pure Power L8 600W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply - With 120mm Silent Wing Fan Built in £49.99

The one thing I do need is the motherboard to have HDMI and Optical outputs.

What case is it going into? What OS is it going to use? If its Windows and you will be doing stuff other than HTPC Stuff then its fine otherwise its a little overspecced. Only thing I would suggest is for £25 You can get a passive gpu with HDMI out.

Its going to have Win7 and XBMC on it and thats about it. Its going in a Silverstone LC20.

Steveocee - I didn't think it was right.

I've had a look at going down the AMD route which will reduce the bill.

Gigabyte F2A88X-D3H AMD A88X (Socket FM2+) DDR3 Motherboard £62.99

AMD A6-5400K Black Edition 3.60GHz (Socket FM2) APU Trinity Dual Core Processor (AD540KOKHJBOX) £39.95

Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C9 1333MHz Dual Channel Kit (TW3X4G1333C9A) £37.99
