quick ikea tv unit question

hi,

the following unit is designed for up to 37 inch tvs. do you think a 50 inch tv will fit?

Why would a 50" TV fit when it;s designed for TVs up to 37"? :)

Have a look here

Unless I'm getting something really messed up :)

Only one I can see that looks like the one in the link from the OP is here

Although this says it'll support TVs up to 60", it looks like the one's with storage around the TV area mean you'll have to be careful to find one big enough to fit your TV.

I'm going to say that no, I don't think a TV that's 13 inches bigger than the unit is designed for, will fit.

The besta is very similar in size for most units, which is 120cm on the outside, a little less for the inside measurement. Not sure on height.

To give you an idea here is my 40" on top of a 120cm besta unit.

unlikely, the unit is 240, made of 4 units - so 60cm per unit. The centre unit is 2, so 120cm width.

A 50" screen is approx 47" wide or so, so thats 2.54*47"=119cm. + your bezel. Doubt it'll fit.

The inside of that box is 117 x 73cm (I've got one). Measure up. But also bear in mind the strength of the backboard and whether it will take the weight.

the tv is the lg pk350. i wont be wall mounting it and so the dimesnions with the stand is 1171.4x781.8x309.7. based on meridian's measurements i guess it wont fit :(

Probably more than that as I suspect that the manual will indicate a minimum amount of clearance you should have around the TV for ventilation ... no good squeezing it in so it fits exactly if it overheats in 10mins.

I would be concerned that the unit is designed for the weight of a 37" TV and I suspect a 50" TV would be somewhat heavier ...
