Fingers crossed I'll be getting my 1st years no claims bonus through in February thanks to insuring my car while learning. I've held my full license since the 1st of September 2008 having received my provisional on November 2007. Now when getting insurance quotes it asks for the period I've held my license for, which I assume means how long I've held my full license, not my provisional? In which case it's 6 months when I come to renew in February. However, when I phoned up Norwich Union for a quote they said put the date which I got my provisional (November 2007.) Can anyone confirm this? Obviously I'd prefer the latter as it saves me quite a bit but if it makes my insurance void then obviously I can't :).

hmm, I just changed my policy the same way that you did (from insured on a provisional to insured and a full) and my insurers specifically asked for the length of time the current licence has been held. But, that is just my own, very limited experience.

I always thought the date was the one actually on your licence - in which case its licence specific (i.e. full licence)? The length of NCD can be 2 years passed the licence held, to account of NCD under a provisional licence.
