Hi there guys.

On my insurance I have stated that my car is kept in a garage over night. What would happen with my insurance if I was to leave it out on the street and it was stolen? Could the insurance company 'reject' my claim as it were because I havent put my car overnight where I said I woud?

My insurance is with Direct Line by the way.

Thanks for any help, Mark.

Ok, thanks for the answer. I normally put the car in the garage, it's just that the garage is a good 150 yards from my house and it's a pain in the arse. For some strange reason, the council gave me a garage in the furthest bock away, instead of the ones behind the house

Thanks, Mark.

I'm no insurance expert, but I believe the wording is "where is the car normally kept". Therefore if you are to leave it in a different place once or twice a week, but in the garage the rest of the time, it will still be covered.

Or am I wrong?

I have no idea but I'd definetly like to find out. I have just be round and put the car in the garage, damn it's cold out there!

Mark.

If you "normally" garage it - you can say it's normally garaged and you'll get the discount.

If on the odd ocassion you can't or dont garage it and it's stolen - it'll still be covered, but you should expect the insurers to ask you for an explanation.

Explanation needs to be along the lines of garage door stuck or something like that rather than "I couldnt be bothered" (which wouldnt go down too well).
