Quick Iphone question

If I buy an Iphone from the Apple store can I use it with a contract? The Apple website says it can only be used with a PAYG SIM if you buy the phone from there. Is it locked in some way?

not that im aware of im 99% sure u can use your contract sim aslong you have the iphone tariff or the web bolt on. but it is locked to o2
