Quick iTunes question

If I was to keep a library of my tunes in iTunes, does it copy them across to the iTunes folder on my hard drive, therefore each song taking up 2x the original size?

Was thinking it'd be good to keep all my songs tidy and in some sort of order, synced with my iPod etc but not if it's going to use up more HDD space...

you can set it to monitor another folder...

so it doesnt keep 2 copies of it... i have mine linked to my external, so i just take that with me and it has all my music...

i just wish iphoto would do the same

Just make sure Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library is unchecked, and it will leave your music where it is.
